Kit

DEFUSE KIT
The Defuse Kit is a Counter-Terrorist exclusive equipment used to decrease the defuse time of bombs.

Overview
Defuse Kits were added in BETA 5.0 (the bomb defusal scenario was added in BETA 4.0). It can only be purchased by Counter-Terrorists on bomb defusal maps. It halves the time required to defuse the bomb (five seconds instead of the usual ten). It is automatically used when defusing the bomb, and can be used an unlimited amount of times.
Possessing the defuse kit adds a symbol of a pair of pliers to the player's HUD under the player's inventory. In Sourceand Global Offensive, when playing as a Counter-Terrorist or as a spectator, the scoreboard shows a defuser icon next to the name of the player for players possessing a defuse kit.
In the Global Offensive beta, the defusal kit was randomly given to two Counter-Terrorists. In Global Offensiverelease, the defusal kit is given to all CT players for free in Casual Bomb Scenario at the start of the round. It still needs to be purchased in Competitive bomb defuse.
If a Counter-Terrorist dies, their Defuse Kit will be dropped, and other Counter-Terrorist without a Defuse Kit can pick it up. Interestingly, if a CT begins defusing the bomb and had somehow picked up a defusal kit at the same time, the C4 will still require 10 seconds to defuse and not 5. This can be done by jumping on the C4, begin the defusal process, and then obtaining the defusal kit. However, if the defusal process is restarted when following the aforementioned fact, the bomb can be defused in 5 seconds.
It is often highly recommended to purchase a kit as a Counter-Terrorist to reduce the time it takes to defuse (this is especially helpful when "ninja" defusing). If a team is tighter on economy, then it is also viable to only have two players purchase defuse kits, one stationed at each bombsite to defuse the bomb when site is clear, or let others pick up their kits to defuse if they die.
The Defusal kit is the standard equipment in Deleted Scenes. The player will automatically use it when defusing a bomb, and the defuse time is same as in multiplayer (5 seconds). However, the suitcase Nuke and sometimes bombs can also be defused like the C4 but slower and the time needed to defuse is same as defusing C4 without a kit (10 seconds).

Advantages
Decreases bomb defusal time by 50%
Cheap (costs $200 or $400 in Competitive mode in Global Offensive)

Disadvantages
Makes the owner a priority target to the Terrorists (however, if everybody on the team owns one, this disadvantage vanishes)
When obtaining a Defuse Kit, you cannot drop it for other CTs to use and you can only purchase one.

RESCUE KIT
The Rescue Kit is equipment exclusive to the Counter-Terrorists in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. It was added with the March 21, 2013 update.
When equipped in the player's inventory, the kit speeds up the process of picking up a hostage, reducing the pickup time from four seconds to one second.

Overview
The rescue kit has the same world model as the defuse kit.
It uses the same entity as the defuse kit.
Like the defuse kit, it is dropped upon death and can be picked up by other CTs.
Unlike the defuse kit, the rescue kit is not automatically given to the player in Casual matches.
Bots never purchase this item, but can retrieve a dropped rescue kit if it is within the bot's path.

Kevlar + Helmet

The Kevlar Vest and Helmet, also known as simply Kevlar + Helmet, is a combination of protective equipment found in the Counter-Strike series. The Kevlar Vest can be purchased by itself, while the helmet cannot.

Overview
In most games and in Global OffensiveCompetitive, players start the game without armor and helmet. A kevlar body armor costs $650 and reduces damage taken by players from bullets and grenades by a percentage that varies with the armor penetration of each weapon. The kevlar vest protects the chest, stomach and the arms (starting at BETA 1.2) areas of the hitbox while the helmet protects the head.
The current armor value is always visible as a value and a bar next to the player's health bar on the HUD. In Global Offensive, the icon next to the bar will also change depending on if the player is equipped with a helmet or not.
Each time the armor is hit, the armor value will drop by a percentage based on how much damage was absorbed. Armor disappears after its value reaches 0. A vest will reduce damage and reduce aimpunch from attacks to the torso by 95%.[1]
Aside from reducing damage from weapons, Kevlar can also reduce environmental damage such as fire, toxic materials, etc by 50% in some custom maps. Players can also buy a vest with a helmet for $1000, or add a helmet to existing armor for $350 as long as the armor value is still 100, which extends protection to the player's head. The helmet can save players from headshots by most weapons with the notable exceptions of sniper rifles, the Desert Eagle, the SG 553, and the AK-47. Like the vest, the helmet removes aimpunch from headshots, though this time almost completely.

As long as the armor value is not zero, the exact armor value does not matter and damage will always be reduced. Therefore, having higher armor value does not give better protection unless the value is reduced to zero.

Negev

The Negev is an Israeli machine gun featured in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Overview
The IMI Negev is available for both Counter-Terrorists and Terroriststo purchase. It carries a 150-round magazine, has a higher fire rate than the M249, and only costs $2000 after April 12, 2017 (originally, it had the price tag of $5700), compared to the M249's $5200 price tag, but is initially a lot less precise. However, with enough sustained fire, the Negev becomes very accurate and easy to control. This tempts the user to pre-fire the weapon from around a corner to catch enemies by surprise and continue firing until they kill their target.
When held, the player's movement speed is 150 units per second, meaning they suffer 40% reduction in speed (the highest in the game, even more than the AWP and semi-automatic sniper rifles).  This weapon was not available in Competitive Matchmaking after the March 24, 2017 update, but it was added back following the April 12, 2017 update.

Advantages
Large magazine capacity
Deadly in close range
Very high rate of fire
Instant kill if a headshot is scored (at close range), regardless if a target has a helmet or not
Good for penetrating through walls
Great for eliminating clustered groups of enemies and discouraging enemy rushes
Highly controllable recoil during automatic fire
Overwhelmingly accurate after 10 shots
Great for holding corners
Very cheap

Disadvantages
Highly inaccurate when burst fired.
Extremely inaccurate on its first 15 shots.
Very high intial spread
Extremely heavy
6 second reload time

M249

The M249 is a machine gun featured in all of the Counter-Strike series.

Overview
The M249 is the name given to the US-adopted version of the Belgian FN Minimi, a light machine gun firing the intermediate-caliber 5.56x45mm NATO cartridge.
In-game, it is one of the two machine guns in the multiplayer Counter-Strike games. It is available to both teams. Some players may prefer the M249 in public matches but the M249 is rarely used in competitive play due to its very high cost ($5750) for the weapon itself and its ammunition (in the older games). Currently in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, the M249 is cheaper at $5200 instead of $5750.

Advantages
Large magazine capacity/Large ammo in reserve
Useful for fighting groups of opponents
Great for firing through walls
High damage
Can instantly kill targets with headshots in Source and Global Offensive at close range.

Disadvantages
Expensive cost for the weapon and ammo
High recoil when continuously firing this weapon
Inaccurate at long ranges
Ammo cannot be shared with other 5.56mm rifles (prior to CS:GO)
Long reload time
Heavy weight, especially in Global Offensive

SCAR-20

The SCAR-20 is a semi-automatic sniper rifle in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive that is exclusive to the Counter-Terrorists.

Overview
The FN SCAR-20 is a Belgium-made automatic sniper rifle chambered with 20 rounds of 7.62x51mm NATO. It is a long range designated marksman rifle equipped with a high power lens scope, and is a variant of the SCAR-H battle rifle. Overall, the SCAR-20 has a high damage and rate of fire, as well as high accuracy, making it a weapon that is easy to use, but hard to master. Despite these advantages, the SCAR-20 is rarely used in Competitivegameplay. Usually, the AWP is bought instead due to its higher damage per shot, better accuracy, and lower cost.

Advantages
High accuracy
High tagging factor
Low recoil
Short reload time
High damage
Fastest rate of fire of all sniper rifles, along with the G3SG1

Disadvantages
Very expensive
Heavy

AUG

The AUG, or Bullpup, as it was previously known, is a riflefeatured in the Counter-Strike series, exclusive to the Counter-Terrorists. The counterpart for the Terrorists is the Krieg 552 (before Global Offensive) and SG 553 in Global Offensive.

Overview
The AUG (Armee Universal Gewehr, roughly translated as "universal army rifle") is an Austrian-made assault rifle manufactured by Steyr Mannlicher. It was designed in 1977 in order to replace the older StG 58 battle rifle (the Austrian variant of the FN FAL). It was adopted as the new standard-issue rifle of the Austrian military in 1978, and was adopted as the StG 77. At the time, it was notable for having a futuristic appearance.
In game, this assault rifle generally has moderate damage, accuracy and recoil control. The rate of fire is high and it is moderate in weight. It is equipped with a low power lens scope for medium range engagement. Using the scope in games prior to Global Offensiveprovides a 1.5x zoom towards the crosshair and lowers the rate of fire. In Global Offensive, the scope now provides a 3x zoom, there is no fire rate penalty for using the scope, and lowers the recoil significantly, and the scope now provides a HUD overlay of the scope, including an aiming reticle, giving the impression of the player actually aiming down the scope.
It is highly favored by newer players due to its easy-to-learn "scope and shoot" policy, but is avoided in competitive matches due to its higher price tag compared to the more cost-efficient M4s, heavy weight, and long reload times.

Advantages
Highest first shot accuracy out of any gun in the game
High rate of fire
Has the ability to zoom in
Moderate damage
Instant headshot kill at point blank range, even if a helmet is worn (CS:GO)
Useful for long range combat (firing in bursts of 3)

Disadvantages
Low rate of fire when scoped (excluding CS:GO)
Long reload time (especially in CS:S and CS:GO)
Expensive for an assault rifle
High recoil (CS:GO only)
Fairly low damage for an assault rifle against unarmored targets (CS:GO)

M4A1-S

The M4A1-S is a Counter-Terrorist exclusive rifle in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and was added in the game on the August 14, 2013Arms Deal update. It is a variant of the M4A4 assault rifle, replacing it if equipped in the loadout. It is a successor of the M4A1 from previous Counter-Strike games.

Overview
The M4A1-S in game is based off a Colt Model 723 "M16A2 Carbine" with an "M4" profile barrel. In game, the rifle has 20 rounds per magazine and 40 rounds in its reserve. A new feature implemented is that the silencer now takes more time to attach and detach and it is already attached once the player purchases it. It's rate of fire is slightly lower at 600 RPM. Otherwise, it works identically to the M4A1 found in previous games.

Advantages
Quiet firing sound
Low recoil
No tracers if the silencer is attached
Very accurate and relatively low spread, especially when suppressed.

Disadvantages
Low magazine size
Low number of reserve magazines
The silencer extends the weapon's length, exposing hiding users
Lower rate of fire than most assault rifles

M4A4

The M4A4 is a Counter-Terrorist rifle featured exclusively in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, replacing the previous Maverick M4A1 Carbine. It has the M4A1-S as its alternative load out.

The M4A4 has high accuracy and moderate recoil, especially when fired in bursts. However, spraying bullets is not always recommended, unless you're in close proximity with the enemy. At longer ranges, burst fire, unless an opponent has a sniper rifle, like the AWP. Retreating when an experienced sniper has spotted you is more recommended than recklessly charging in an open area. In medium and close ranges, you can spray bullets at the torso or stomach. Be sure that you are accustomed to the recoil however.
Although headshots from the M4A4 are not always lethal, you can aim for the head at close ranges. A headshot might kill if an opponent is already hurt, or at least deliver heavy damage.Experienced players with AK-47 rifles may outgun M4A4 users at mid to long ranges. To counter this, try to burst-fire as the M4A4 has lower recoil or find a way to gain close proximity due to higher rate of fire of the weapon.

This rifle can easily counter assailants armed with higher recoil and/or lower rate of fire weapons, especially if opponents have trouble controlling their weapon at close ranges. Examples include the AK-47 and the SG 553.

FAMAS

The FAMAS, or Clarion 5.56, as it was previously known, is a riflefeatured in the Counter-Strike series.

Overview
The FAMAS (French: Fusil d'Assaut de la Manufacture d'Armes de Saint-Étienne or "Assault rifle from the Saint-Étienne weapon factory") is a bullpup assault rifle designed and manufactured in France by MAS (Manufacture d'Armes de Saint-Étienne) located in Saint-Étienne. It is notably used by the French Military as a service rifle.
In-game, the FAMAS is a fairly powerful automatic and 3-round burst assault rifle available exclusively to the Counter-Terrorists. It is one of the two weapons in Counter-Strike with a burst feature, the other being the Glock-18.
Although economically friendly, the FAMAS is usually discarded in later rounds for more powerful weapons such as the M4A1 (M4A4 or M4A1-S in Global Offensive) or the Steyr AUG, some players still prefer the FAMAS due to its accuracy in burst fire mode in long ranges and its ability to easily score headshots.
The accuracy of the alternative burst-fire is higher in Counter-Strike: Source, as its spread is tighter at close ranges or/and when crouching. Like with the Glock-18Bots never use the burst-fire mode and will fire in automatic mode, unless the FAMAS was already set to burst mode before it was picked up. However, should they use the alternative three-burst mode, they appear notably overpowered at long range even in easy mode due to their excellent overall accuracy.
The FAMAS is one of the four weapons that cannot fire underwater, the others being the Leone 12 Gauge SuperXM1014, and the IDF Defender. Prior to Counter-Strike: Source, the FAMAS had the highest knockback power out of all weapons (the second is the Galil). Although risky, the knockback effect can be used to make AWP users miss their shot before they can fire (if they fired a shot within 0.2 seconds after being shot by a FAMAS user). The FAMAS can also be used to "lift" a teammate with sufficient health into an area where otherwise cannot be accessed. However this requires the server option friendly fire to be enabled

Advantages
3-round burst firing is preferable for long-range encounters
Very accurate at long range when using bursts
Low recoil while in burst mode

Disadvantages
Low damage for an assault rifle
Low accuracy if fired in automatic mode, except in CS:S.
Low rate of fire if fired in burst-fire mode.
Slightly smaller magazine size than the other assault rifles.
Cannot fire underwater
Slightly more expensive than its Terrorists' counterpart.
Long reload time

G3SG1

The G3SG/1, or D3/AU-1, as it was previously known, is a sniper riflefeatured in the Counter-Strike series.

Overview
The G3SG/1 is a powerful semi-automatic sniper rifle available exclusively to the Terrorists. The G3SG/1 is an "accurized" variant of the famous G3 battle rifle developed by Heckler & Koch. The "SG" in its name stands for Scharfschützengewehr, or "sharpshooting rifle". During production, H&K will often pick the out the G3 rifles with the lowest spread from the production line, modify them, and then rebrand the rifle as the G3SG/1. Thus in real life, the G3SG/1 retains G3's automatic fire and can switch from full-auto to semi-auto and safe by flipping a 3-position fire selector at its side. In-game, the G3SG/1 can only fire in semi-auto mode.
Alongside with the SIG SG550 and the SCAR-20, they are known as being some of the most imbalanced weapons in the game due to their semi-automatic sniper rifle status, despite their major disadvantages. For this reason, the G3SG/1, along with SG 550 and SCAR-20 are usually banned on public servers, due to semi-automatic mode that can kill the targets quickly. Moreover, In competitive gameplay, the AWP is often preferred over these semi-automatic rifles due to its high damage per shot, better accuracy, and lower cost.
Interestingly, Counter-Terrorist bots in older games may pick it up if their default weapon is Scout/SG 550, similar to the Terrorists picking up a SG 550 to replace the Scout and the G3SG/1. For balancing reasons, some sniper bots in Tour of Duty or multiplayer on higher difficulties rarely/never buy this weapon. Instead, they prefer to use the AWP. However, bots in multiplayer who do not have any weapon preference (mostly easy bots) or a sniper bot that is using the MP5 or the Scout may buy/pick up this weapon.

Advantages
High damage
Above average hip-fire accuracy
Higher rate of fire than the AWPScout and SSG 08
In 1.6 it has no accuracy penalties when running and has very good jumping accuracy
In 1.6 it does not have noscope accuracy penalties
Kills in two hits or less
Lower recoil than the SCAR-20

Disadvantages
Second most expensive weapon ($5000) after the M249.
One of the heaviest weapons in Counter-Strike as the player can only move around 210 units when using this gun.
No crosshair when unzoomed
High recoil while firing continuously, especially when unzoomed
Smaller magazine size than the Krieg 550 Commando (20 rounds)
Long reload time
Cannot be purchased in Assassination mode

AWP

The AWP (Arctic Warfare Police), or Magnum Sniper Rifle, as it was previously known, is a sniper rifle featured in the Counter-Strikeseries.
A "high risk, high reward" weapon due to its high powers but slow firing rate, reload speed, and movement speed, the AWP is one of the most used weapons in the Counter-Strike series.

Overview
The AWP is a powerful bolt-action sniper rifle available to both teams. It is infamously renowned for being able to one-shot kill enemies with a hit anywhere bar the legs, regardless of armor, making the AWP a solid weapon for wallbanging. The VIP is the only player who can survive a single body shot from the AWP because his armor is 200. However, a headshot can still kill the VIP instantly without the need for a second shot.
The AWP also has extreme accuracy when scoped, particularly when crouched as it has the 3rd highest accuracy in the game. The ability to scope along with the extreme accuracy and obscene stopping power make the AWP devastating at long ranges, particularly in the hands of a skilled shooter.
However, where the AWP excels in accuracy and power, it suffers in general handling. The AWP slows players down considerably, particularly in Global Offensive, making it unwieldy at closer ranges in the hands of a novice player. The weapon also has terrible accuracy when not using the scope or firing while moving, so the user must be aiming down sights AND immobile at all times to retain a competitive edge. Additionally, the sound that results from firing is loud and easily recognizable; the moment a shot is fired, the enemy team is aware of an AWP's presence on the battlefield. Thus, the enemy team will change their tactics in attempts to take down the AWP as top priority by flanking the user or using other tactics against the user.
In addition, this weapon is bolt-action, which results in a slow rate of fire. A missed shot can leave the operator vulnerable while chambering another bullet and allowing enemies to use that opportunity to counter the user or escape. The last downside is the weapon's lack of economic efficiency—it is expensive and the kill reward is low (in Global Offensive). Therefore, getting killed while holding this weapon may prove detrimental for the user's team morale as the enemy could take the advantage by taking this weapon and use it against the user's team.
In the older games, the .338 Lapua Magnum used by the AWP is the most expensive ammunition in-game, at $125 per magazine. The AWP is not available for the Counter-Terrorists to purchase in Assassination maps. They can, however, get one from fallen Terrorists. The AWP is only weapon in Counter-Strike with the ability to kill an armored teammate instantly with a headshot. In older games, bots equipped with an AWP always switch to their pistol after firing 5 rounds, no matter how many rounds are available in their weapons.

Advantages
Fatal damage to the pelvic area or above
Extremely high penetration power
Very accurate and lethal at extreme range

Disadvantages
Operated by bolt-action mechanism
Very loud and distinct firing sound
Heavy weight
Very expensive
Low kill reward in Global Offensive
Very inaccurate when firing without the scope or firing while moving
Less accurate if fired right after cycling the bolt in Source and Global Offensive
Long reload time (in Source and Global Offensive)
Require accuracy and skill to master usage

SG 553

The SG 553 is a Swiss assault rifle in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive exclusive to the Terrorists. Its Counter-Terroristcounterpart is the AUG.

Overview
The SG 553 is a Swiss-made assault rifle manufactured by Swiss Arms as part of the SG 550 platform introduced in 1990. Although it is designated as the SG 553 in game, it is more closer in terms of design to the SG 556, a semi-automatic rifle civilian intended for the civilian market, as the real-life SG 553 is an improved version of the SG 552 subcarbine rifle.
In game, the SG 553 serves as the replacement of the Krieg 552from previous titles. Unlike its predecessor, the SG 553 inflicts more damage and can penetrate through armor flawlessly. Furthermore, the scope now provides a 3x zoom, there is no longer a fire rate penalty for using the scope, and using the scope lowers the recoil significantly. The scope now also provides a HUD overlay of the scope, including an aiming reticle, giving the impression of the player actually aiming down the scope. It is one of the few guns capable of scoring fatal headshots regardless of armor.

Advantages
Highest first shot accuracy of any assault rifle
Highest damage per bullet against armored enemies of any assault rifle
100% armor penetration, making headshots fatal even at extreme long range
High firing rate
Short reload time
Scope increases accuracy, reduces recoil while maintaining firing rate
Scope gives a fighting chance against snipers at long range compared to unscoped rifles
Cheaper than most CT rifles (M4, AUG)

Disadvantages
High recoil
Wide spread upon continuous fire
Most expensive assault rifle on the terrorist side
Heaviest assault rifle and slowest movement speed
Scope slows down movement speed considerably

SSG 08

The SSG 08 is a bolt-action sniper rifle in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, replacing the Schmidt Scout from the previous games.
The SSG 08 is is commonly nicknamed Scout due to its heavy physical resemblance to its predecessor.

Overview
The Steyr SSG 08 is an Austrian-made bolt-action sniper rifle, fed with 10 rounds of 7.62 NATO. It is equipped with a high power lens scope for long range engagement. Unlike the previous Schmidt Scout, the SSG 08 has increased damage per shot and lower price, making it more lethal and reliable as the alternative for the AWP. As such, the SSG 08 is more easily purchased if a team has lost the previous/pistol round. However, it is heavier than the Scout and users have a running speed of 230.
Like its predecessor, the SSG 08 will always deliver instant headshot kills but does not deal enough damage for an instant kill if a shot to the body is scored. However, unlike the Scout, an unarmored stomach shot will usually kill a target instantly.
The SSG 08 is cheap and its rate of fire is little faster than the AWP. In early rounds, players who wish to snipe can buy this weapon. In later rounds, the SSG 08 is often used by players on the losing side or/and players who have insufficient money to purchase superior sniper rifles. Usually, the SSG 08 is replaced by more powerful (expensive, and heavier) sniper rifles like the AWP and semi-auto sniper rifles. However, a skilled SSG 08 user can suppress most assault rifles at long range and some other sniper rifles by maintaining their ability to score headshots on their enemies and being concealed with stealth or use of cover.
The SSG 08 is the only weapon in the entire Counter-Strike series to be able to perfectly retain its hipfire accuracy while jumping. Unlike the Scout, the player will not gain a speed bonus when equipped with the SSG 08. However, this is compensated by the increased damage and an instant kill when a shot hits the stomach of unarmored players.

Advantages
Lightweight
No additional speed reduction when zooming
Cheap
High reserve ammo capacity
Fairly quiet
Accurate at the peak a jump with no horizontal movement
Fairly accurate when un-scoped
High penetration
Can kill unarmored targets with a shot to the gut

Disadvantages
Low rate of fire
Inflicts low damage for a sniper rifle
Long reload time (the same as the AWP)
